Alka Ahuja is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and the Lead Consultant for the Specialist Neurodevelopmental service at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. She is also the Chair of the Child and Adolescent Faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in Wales. She has a special interest in public and patient partnership and has researched and published extensively in this area. Her clinical interests include neurodevelopmental disorders.
Alka joined the University of South Wales as a Visiting Fellow in 2006 and is now a Visiting Professor since 2014.
Alka has expertise in qualitative research methodology and her areas of research include autism and ADHD, user and carer involvement in healthcare services and employment of digital technology in healthcare.
Her goals are to provide high quality health care by involving patient and public in a joint partnership of practice, research, teaching and service development work.
In the past, she has done her psychiatry training in India and worked as a lecturer and researcher at Mumbai University. Her research and writing in psychosocial issues in street children in India has been recognized nationally and internationally.
