The Welsh Institute for Health and Social Care (WIHSC) has been commissioned by Age Cymru Dyfed to evaluate their Befriending Life Links service.
This project operates across the Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire areas, and aims to support people over the age of 50 who have become socially isolated, withdrawn, have suffered a loss of confidence or have a low sense of wellbeing.
A team of staff and volunteers helps individuals to become involved in local social groups and other appropriate activities that they feel are suited to them as individuals.
WIHSC has agreed to evaluate the project, from June 2021 to October 2022, conducting qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews, focus groups and surveys conducted with beneficiaries of the service, volunteers, stakeholders and Age Cymru Dyfed staff. A final evaluation report will be produced in 2022.
Professor Mark Llewellyn is project director and Dr Sion Tetlow is project manager. Any queries can be sent to [email protected]
